Facelifts planned for iconic buildings in Civic

Changes to legislation to help improve, restore and revitalise the appearance of the iconic Sydney and Melbourne Buildings in Civic have been released for public consultation.

The proposed changes to the City Renewal Authority and Suburban Land Agency Act 2017 will allow the City Renewal Authority (CRA) to work with building owners to create a revitalisation plan, which will set out what improvements building owners need to make to their external facing areas and in what timeframe.

The draft legislation is based on consultation with stakeholders in 2019 and allows the ACT Government to step in and complete works, at an owner’s expense, if they are not completed within the agreed timeframe.

The draft legislation is available for public comment until 9 February online at yoursay.act.gov.au
