Canberra has been named among five investment hotspot locations “poised for growth” this year, according to analysis by InSynergy Property Wealth Advisory.

Alongside the national capital, the analysis named Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Queensland’s Sunshine Coast as investment locations primed for growth in 2020.

InSynergy’s chief property investment advisor Richard Sheppard said each location had a “number of strong market fundamentals that would underpin property price performance in the years ahead”, with Canberra set to “continue to be one of the steadiest markets in the country”, due to its “robust” economy, job opportunities and high median income.

“Canberra also has the strongest rental demand of any capital city in the country, which will help to attract future investment demand.

“Investors can earn anywhere from five to seven per cent gross rental yields for apartments, coupled with vacancy rates currently sitting at just one per cent.”
