Building inspection blitz on construction sites

Officers from the Environment Protection Authority, Transport Canberra and City Services and the Suburban Land Agency are teaming up. They will aim to create a building inspection blitz on construction sites in the lead up to Christmas.

The officers are targeting both residential and commercial sites, to ensure there is no impact on the environment or other property owners. Regulatory action will be taken for those sites where appropriate sediment and erosion controls are not in place. Also where building materials and waste are not being properly contained or managed.

Fines will apply to individuals and corporations for not meeting environmental responsibilities. And for not complying with waste management or littering obligations.
