Gala auction creates happy buyers and sellers

LJ Hooker’s gala auction event on Tuesday 10 December was a success, with 12 properties sold unconditionally on the night for a total sales amount of $6,207,500.
Twenty-three properties went under the hammer, with the highest sale price of the night a cool $785,000.
“[There were] no records set, but lots of very happy buyers and sellers,” said LJ Hooker senior sales consultant, Kaylene King, one of the auctioneers on the night.
“The most sought-after property on the night was 18 McCarthy Place, Charnwood; eight bidders registered and competed strongly for the property. It sold at $420,000 – a terrific result!
“There is still plenty of activity at this end of the year and we had registered bidders on 90% of the properties. Whilst all did not sell on the night, most had some bidding. Since the event, we now have several that passed in now under offer,” she said.
King said the gala auction event is a “special event” for the LJ Hooker team each year.
“It’s a lovely way to end the year, going the extra mile for our customers and clients. The evening was a great success and a special way to wind up our selling year. We look forward to a strong market in 2020.”
